Liberal senator BILL HEFFERNAN says the inquiry's charter is to look at alternatives
to the Traveston dam.

And he says an extra hearing will be held in Canberra or Brisbane in coming weeks ..

to look at a federal proposal to pump water from northern NSW rivers to Queensland's drought-hit
south-east corner.

The committee's expected to invite the NSW government to make a submission.
