NSW: Tripodi affairs sparks new security measures in parliament
SYDNEY, Dec 23 AAP - Tough new security measures - including a temporary alcohol ban
- have been introduced at state parliament in the wake of the Joe Tripodi affair.
The Sunday Telegraph says in its Sunday edition that MPs have been ordered to provide
detailed lists of intended guests for New Year celebrations and the Parliament bar will
be closed on January 1.
Access to the roof, which was littered with broken bottles and vomit after the wild
Olympics party of September 14 and 15 that sparked the scandal, has also been banned.
Mr Tripodi, the Labor MP for Fairfield, was accused of sexually assaulting a female
Young Democrats member in his office at the party.
A report into the scandal released by the ICAC on Thursday found there had been physical
contact between the pair in Mr Tripodi's office.
But in the report, Mr Tripodi insisted the contact was "consensual".
